i am very tempted by the bottom spec mbp but the one thing that puts me off is the price.
i have got a pretty good deal over at dell for a 2ghz+2gig of ram with the led screen for £958, roughly $2000, but it just seems that i cant get aple to shift below their £1200ish price tag.
do they go any lower than that at all, or will i simply not get anywhere near the dell price tag for the mbp?

cheers for any advice or hints that can be given.

A Dell price tag won't happen for Apple. Dell's build quality and materials are different (cheaper) than Apple, and little features like webcams and magnetic power cords add to the Apple price. I think you might be able to pull the price down a bit more (not too sure in the UK), but don't expect a Dell price tag for a MBP.

it wasnt an easy ride getting the price down so much with del, i was just hoping to get the Mbp down by say 15-20% or so, is that even feasible?

    cheers

20% off? Hmmm...I see a drop of maybe 100 Euro off, but 20% is pretty hard. Check with local Apple resellers and amazon.co.uk, there may be some good deals there.

eBay FTW! Seriously do some research and get a brand new one for WAY cheaper.

Student discount and the employee program (EPP can't remember what the other p stood for) only offers 10% discount. Good luck getting more than that from Apple.
