hey guys i think i may have a yellow tinted screen, its a SAMSUNG screen and build week 32, and i was just wondering how i go about getting a replacement in Melbourne, Australia.

We dont have any apple stores here and i bought it over the phone direct from apple and received the unit about 2 weeks ago.

the tint is very slight, i'd say its more dimmer towards the bottom of the screen than yellowish, although it has a slight brownish yellow. is there any definate way to tell if i do have it? maybe someone who has had the problem could post a picture so i can compare?

also i have noticed my screen bezel is a bit off, the aluminium side parts of the screen bezel has a bit of push in it and on the right hand side there is a gap between the aluminium and the plastic, should i be worried because it's kind of annoying me?

and also one last thing when i close my notebook one corner of the screen touches the base and the other is slighty raised.

i feel like i might be being a little nit-picky.

    Thank-you.

ps. i decided to include some pictures of the screen bezel, sorry about the low quality i had to take them with my phone because i lent someone my camera.

i think a lot of us have overblown it. I'm sure there are people that can't stand it but honestly, I'm pretty sure mine has it but I can't tell unless I either turn it upside down on a pure white screen or just stare at the screen expecting to see it. it doesn't bother me really.

the only thing that really annoys me now about these issues is that i always feel myself trying to push the screen backward because the bottom of the screener is dimmer, and cant push it back further because of the obvious design constraint. its like when you have your screen not pushed back far enough.

    Sheldon,

Where abouts in Melbourne are you located? I know that there are no dedicated apple store in Melbourne But there's a few Authorised retailers and service centers all around Melbourne. Im in Essendon and drop down to Puckle street where More than the box have a shop/Service center there. Top blokes. Also working for myer and selling the macs, i know they have a 10 day DOA (dead on arrival) scheme where you can get a direct replacement of the one you purchase. Check it out. :D

    Good luck!

10 days is not too late (at least not in the US). That's really your call though. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, you need to contact Apple. The links I posted above are for International/Australia.

I really cannot tell if anything is wrong from the pictures.

If you purchased it from the online or phone Apple store, you probably have 14 days of remorse. Call AppleCare and report the issue, as long as AppleCare confirms a hardware issue the Apple Store would replace it with little fuss within such a period. I just don't know for sure if it's the same in Australia, but if you are within 14 days do call and find out.

just returned my MBP for it to get repaired/replaced/whatever and after talking with apple on the phone they gave me a case number, and when i took it into the store the lady made a big deal about the case number, and she said that apple rarely gives them out, and that you usually have to argue one out of them. but this isnt the case the guy at apple was happy to give me the case number, even though i dont know what it is.

so i guess my question is what is the case number? what does it do?

    thank you in advance

Usually, a case number is for customer service representatives to enter into a computer, to find out your problem. Companies assign common problems a number.

For example, a bad screen may be #11111, a failed hard drive may be #11112, a discolored palmrest may be #11113.

Instead of having you explain it over and over again to each representative, they will give you a number that "represents" the issue you have, that you tell the next representative, they enter it into the computer and immediately they know what issue you have, and how to handle it.

i had case number #83744555. they still got me got explain the issue again so i guess that made it kind of pointless.

well hopefully it all gets worked out. also i need a notebook, am i able to get a temp one off them or anything? depending on how long it's going to take, if its a few days thats alright though.
