    Safari is acting weird.

Every website EXCEPT www.gmail.com is working for me. I've been a gmail user for almost four years and have not experienced a problem until now. It's worked fine on my PC's for years, and perfect on my Safari browser (on my macbook)....but it suddenly stopped loading the page. I tried restarting, shutting down, leaving off for a few hours, but the problem still occurs. What happens is the blue loader located in the text bar (where you type www.gmail.com) keeps changing and will not completely load one page it just switches over to a different link and starts loading that, then switches back to the first link and etc.etc.etc.... SCREEN SHOTS ATTACHED BELOW TO SHOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!

Anyways, it never actually loads my mailbox, and this become quite frusterating so I downloaded Firefox, and it's working fine. I'd still like to use Safari as my main browser and just locate+fix the problem that's occurred, so does anybody know what's wrong? I don't think I messed with any settings recently, so I really dont know what I could have done to mess this up!

    Thanks,

    Scott

I've seen this happen on my mom's Windows machine.. It turned out to be the ISP getting banned to Google or something, or a range of internet IPs getting banned by Google.. so anything google related is blocked.. the ban was probably automatically issued because some clown was trying to "hack" google or something.. it will be lifted in a few days.. it takes a while.

Just tried it myself (Safari 3 on WinXP) and it takes a very long time to load but does so eventually (about 15 seconds), and yes, it has that blue bar about the same position as yours and hangs there for awhile. Normal loading (a few seconds at most) on other browsers.

clear cache and restart safari--while gmail is loading and if it gets stuck or take a a while, try ctrl+F5 (this is in Win XP, I am not sure of the Apple keyboard equivalent). This has happened to me me in Firefox as well. I have a post somewhere here about Safari and GMAIL in Windows, I am afraid Safari in Windows does not render gmail pages well.--just my experience.

    Hope you come right.

Just wondering, Scott...how come your Safari isn't brushed metal? I thought only the Leopard Safari was no longer brushed metal, but judging from the Menu Bar you're not on Leopard...

sam - my buddy coded a little "color hack" that changes all the colors of the menu bars and makes them look really cool :]

...how do i clear cache on safari? and by the way, its not that its getting stuck on the website loading process..it just never loads at all. It switches between loading links every 5 seconds or so, and will continue doing so until exiting out of safari. I've watched it load those damn windows for 20 minutes earlier today! very annoying...but works in Firefox...weirdest thing.

This happened to me tonight using Ubuntu/Firefox while trying to reach this site. For about 15 minutes I was able to visit any site I pleased, except NBR. Very odd.
