GPU CAN go up to about 90C without any real damage and that CPU I think just a little less but as long as you keep the vents in the back clear you should be ok (assuming its at stock speeds). If you really want to be on the safe side you can invest in a cooling pad.

Basic load, anywhere from 50 C to 70 C is normal. Example would be a web browser open, iTunes open, IM client open. Watching a Flash video usually bumps up the CPU about 10 C or so. The CPU can handle 100 C. So you're pretty much okay :).

Yea mine runs ~40s to ~50s in this hot weather. My internal components actually are okay, and the fans turn up when necessary just fine. The only time it ever needed to go up really high was when gaming in Vista.

I just hate how the palm rest gets scorching hot though.

This is a huge problem on my Alienware where the SUPERHOT FRY YOUR HAND OFF videocard is directly under where you rest your left hand.

I've lost so many layers of skin to that area, and over the years a permanent palm print has developed in that area.

That's why I bought a WolfKing Warrior! Its a pretty good gaming keypad.
