Good question. I only have mine set for 2 spaces, but I'd like to know.

Well, the short answer is No, because there's no such option on system preferences; it's not natively supported, that is.
If someone has a workaround then it may be possible. -
it may not be possible depending on how spaces works, but if anyone can add that feature it is Apple
www.apple.com/feedback
that might actually be something they would include at some point. -
I sent a message to them about it.
Having different backgrounds in Spaces would help me with productivity and make me feel better by having different desktop images.
It is easier and quicker to to see which space you are in if you have an option to switch the backgrounds. I switch between Browsers, Microsoft Office, and Garage Band.
I'm not sure how Spaces is coded, but if you could at least add the option for backgrounds that would be incredible. I know several other musicians who work in studios who could benefit from these as well.
Also you can "impress" some people by having different backgrounds for different clients. Such as showing topics or pictures that cater more to them to give them a more personalized feeling. -

yea i sent a message to. if it works, let the whole world owe it to NBR.com.

i would think this is something that would definitely be possible and not extremely difficult, as Apple has already implemented an automatic desktop switching preference for some time now.
we'll see what happens. -
I also waiting for a responce I sent them a message a little while ago. Hopefully we get a responce.
