is it true that if you set your macbook to sleep mode, that it will increase your battery life instead of turning of your macbook? I can imagine that your macbook will run pretty hot... isn't that dangerous for the macbook?
Especially when you put your macbook in a backpack or something...

Uhh... What exactly do you mean? Sleep uses a bit of battery life, not much, but it does use some. And no, the macbook doesn't get hot when it's off or in sleep mode, so I'm not sure how it would be dangerous in your backpack.

Well, is it better for your battery life to set your macbook in sleep mode instead of completely shut down your macbook? Someone told me that if you start up your macbook from 0, it needs more energy then when you turn on your macbook from sleep mode.

It makes sense, but it really depends on how long do you let it idle/how often do you turn it on or resume from sleep. If you are tunrning it off for brisk periods then letting it sleep instead is probably a good idea. It is hard to tell how much time is long enough for turning it off though, I myself use anything over an hour most of the time.

Yup, if you're going to be having it "off" for only like, 10 min, then keep it in sleep mode.
I agree with wooky on that though... I wouldn't keep it in sleep for more than an hour... probably 30 min at most for me.
hey wooky and i have the same #of posts heh -
I highly dout that is true
sleep mode instead of turning of macbook?
