Right now I am looking to purchase a macbook or macbook pro. i am a junior in high school and are looking for a computer for college. Does it make sense to get one now or wait a year or so for a newer model to come out. I do not need one now but it would make everything alot easier. Thanks for the advice

A year or so? Its a personal choice, buy now if you want it, wait if you don't want it bad enough. It really doesn't matter that much in such a large time frame.

Well, if you have cash to spare, and you really want to switch to Mac now, go ahead and get yourself a MacBook or MacBook Pro. They will still be very powerful even a year later. But if its not necessary, and you can hold off, obviously getting a Mac a year later will be more powerful (although not necessarily "significantly more" powerful), and those Macs may possibly be redesigned by next year.

If you don't need one now, wait until the need arises. Lots will change by the time you're ready for college.

They just upgraded them.
The $1999 MBP is the best deal right now.
Compared to Macbook: 2GB out of the box, good video card, higher-res screen, better resale value when it come tie to upgrade or finance your meth habit. -
mattireland It used to be the iLand..
The Mac Book Pro is as good now as it will be in a year. There won't be any major new technology coming out. It might go down in price a bit but I recon you should buy now.

I would say ... hold off buying now; since you don't really need one as of now, and it will surely get cheaper as times goes by .. not to forget you will get it with Leopard (a saving in itself) which will be a full 64 bit OS.
should i buy now or later?
