The power of the MBP Pro is fine. I often wish the main screen was 1680x1050, but thats my only consistent gripe with it.

The MacBook was LONG in the tooth with the GMA950. It's far more acceptable now with the new integrated graphics.

It's really about your needs and your budget.

I got the MBP because, at the time, I was more into gaming. Since then, I have pretty much given up on gaming due to time constraints. Still, if I had to do it again, I would go for MBP. I like the styling, love the larger screen, and I know if I do want to pick up some games I can. I do wish they would allow a user-replaceable hard drive. However, if they did have a 15" MacBook for around $1500, it would be a very difficult decision.

I wish I had a MBP, but I don't regret not getting it, as I won this MacBook, so not much to complain about :p.

Well when I got the macbook I wasn't into pc gaming, but that was before I tried WoW. Long story short, I want to get a macbook pro now. I don't regret my decision though, my macbook is a fine machine, and around here where there aren't many around, it turns a lot of heads, specially from women, which is great cause they come to me and ask me where I got it and that it's so cute, so it's a great conversation starter. I don't know if it would be the same in north america where it's a bit more predominant. Other than being a chick magnet, it's better than any laptop i've ever used in terms of design and functionality. Thank you steve.

When I bought this MBP I still thought that I would have the time/desire to game. I have since realized that I have neither, and as such wish that I had gone with the regular MB and saved 1000 dollars. Other than that I love my MBP.

Sometimes I wish I would have gone with a macbook and spent some extra money on a pc for gaming. But that's only when I have the time to game, which is once, maybe twice, a week and only for about an hour or so then.

I really wanted a smaller screen, as I have a monitor and wireless desktop system for when I'm at my desk. I don't think I could have stood the macbook keyboard, though. The white macbook looks to much like a toy for me to be able to spend that much on it, so I would have gotten the blackbook, which is just too close to the mbp to not go ahead and get the better keyboard and GPU. A better looking macbook or a ultra portable mbp would be a different decision, I think.

I'm content with my MacBook, I would use a PC to play games as there are better upgrade options available.
I just like the fact that the MacBook works and I don't need to waste my time installing security software (Windows) or typing boring commands to get MP3s to play (Linux).
    :)

I'm happy with the MacBook... the MBP would be nice, but it's not something that would suit my needs. I need something portable, and the smaller footprint of the MB is great.

I've had my MBP for a month or so now, and it's by far the nicest computer I've ever owned (and I've owned a lot, from Sinclair ZX-81s and Spectrums, thru Atari 800XLs, a load of PCs and a couple of notebooks most recently a Vaio!). I'm so happy with OS X, having been abused by Vista for 6 months, and 10.5.1 seems to have sorted the couple of minor niggles I had with Leopard.

My only gaming these days is WoW, which I do play a little too much. Compared to playing on a PC the keyboard is slightly more cramped obviously but the MBP graphics allow decent FPS with pretty much all the options turned to full. In all though, I couldn't have done with a plain MacBook as it just wouldn't have coped to the same level.

I wish they would have had a 15" Macbook available. While I do game, I would have preferred to save some money and gotten a 15" that has no dedicated video card and put that money toward a gaming rig.
Even now, I've been thinking about how nice it would be to have bought the normal MB and used the extra grand I spent on the MBP and built a whole new gaming rig.
    Best of both worlds there....

It is funny how many people think they need high performance for gaming and then they realise they don't have time for it. I am on the same boat, guys.

The only game I really play often is Fifa 07 and it doesn't require high system specs. I think it would run fine if I installed it on the MB. But, for now I'm happy to play it on my PC. The only game on my MB is Civilization 3, but that game is too time consuming anyway.

I'm a binge gamer. A play a lot for a couple of days, then, done for a while.

I definitely enjoy the option to game when the bug hits.

i thought about taking my new 2.2 Macbook back and getting a Pro again.

That said, the feature set just couldnt warrant the etra 800$.... The deciding factor was, and still is the simple fact that the MBP 15" has only 1440x900, to me thats not much better than the MB. i expect 1680x1050 in a 15", so that was a negative.

Im happy with my MB on the road, and hooked into my 22" HP w2207 at home, no one can argue my deal!

I wish they had a 15" macbook with ATI 2600HD 512Mb and price it the same with the base macbook pro. Competition in your own line?

Why though? That would mean Apple would need to sign another deal, and also the 2600 HD is not that different from the 8600GT DDR3 on the current MBP anyways.

Well the Radeon 2600HD is already on the Imac and the Imac does use the mobile version. If not the Radeon 2600HD then the Nvidia 8600Gs would make a good sub.

Actually, it's funny you mention the screen resolution. I thought 1440x900 is PERFECT. I had a 1600x1200... VERY hard to read. Plus, higher resolution means that the laptop is MUCH less likely to be able to game at native resolution.

But it would be nice of apple to provide some different options for those who would like a higher res.

I'd gladly game in non-native res to use the higher res when I'm in Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop or Cinema 4d. Which is a lot more of the time.

I always get the hi-res on my Dell 15" laptops (I've had a 5150 1600x1200 and an E1505 1680x1050) and loved both of those screens.

Yeah, but gaming at none native res is ... odd. And if you have widescreen, if you had 1920x1080, you would get either a cropped image, or have stretching, which would ruin the game image.
I got kinda lucky with my Sager, as I had to start runnign new games at 800x600 within a year after I bought it (bought it about 6 mo before doom 3 came out). It's native res was 1600x1200, running those games at 1280x1024 made it look... just off.

So myself, I'm not a big fan of altering the image. But now I'm pretty much dedcated to not wanting to game on laptops lol.

Sometimes I think I should have gone with the 17" for more screen and bigger hard drive. Other then that, nah.
