hey guys,
time for another noob question. every time i restart my mac i seem to be getting recovered files in the trash. on the apple site it mentions that its basically lost files from a closed or forcly closed program. is there anyway of knowing which program thats causing this? or at leastt how to prevent it from happening?
-
any help guys?
-
Do you have Office 2011 installed??
I ask as there is a bug with Office 2011, where if you use one of the applications, upon a reboot you get a 'recovered files' folder in the trash! -
hey ifti, thanks for the reply mate. i know i can count on you. yes i have office 2011 installed but the files appear irrespective of whether or not i open any office programs during a particular session.
-
Can you list which files they are??
-
Hey man sorry for the late reply. Its just a generic folder called recovered file and there is only just file. tried to figure out what file it is but i cant figure it out. is there anyway of knowing what software it belongs to
-
its named "file" ??? what does Get Info say about it? did you try opening it in TextEdit.app to see if its text based of some sort?
-
Hmmm, I get a 'Recovered File' folder in my Trash after Ive rebooted following using an Office 2011 app.
I wonder if its more MAC thing rather then an application?
Do a Google search on 'Recovered File in Trash' - seem to be loads of people with the same issue....... -
Hey guys, thanks for the reply. its called wkresources. and when i tried to get more info it says its a Unix exec. file. Unfortunately i am unable to open with textedit.
-
wkresources is from bad programming on Microsoft's part with MS Office... its rather common, and not cleaned up right by Office and can safely be ignored.
-
wow. thanks doh123. that reduced the tension. so basically everyone running office, have this issue is it?
-
Yup - thought it would be Office!
And yes, most people running Office 2011 seem to have this issue...... -
ahh bummer. at least it doesnt cause any major issues.
-
Microsoft seems to want to deny they did anything wrong... their KB entry just explains why files get recovered, but nothing about MS software here.
"wkresources" files in Trash after using or starting Office for Mac applications -
tbh it doesnt suprise me since, i had somewhat similar problems on offic 2007 for windows
