web browsing, and basic text editing, the basics.

I get 5.5 on my MBP I want to know how much it will be on the new ones as I may get a change to buy a 17incher for a good price. so If know what the battery life is like, that would help.

I haven't had time to test my 2011 17" I grabbed, but with my normal light weight stuff I do it seems like it'll last around 6 hours. I'll get a better idea when I've had it more than a couple of days.

Laptop mag recently updated their review of the high end 15" and claimed 8 hours and 23 minutes.

Their initial test was 5.5 hours or something, but they somehow squeezed more out of it. They didn't elaborate how.

Okay, so if you don't disable auto switching to the dedicated graphics card, you are looking at about 5.5 hours total of web browsing. If you disable auto switching with gfxCardStatus, then you are looking at around 7+ hours of web browsing.

While taking notes in class in full-screen mode in Word 2011, I get about 11.5 hours of battery life (wifi off).

    (I have the $2200 MBP 15" 2011)
