Hey im aware that some guys with Unibodys can get their ram up to 8gb or 16, i think. But i was under the impression that the macbook, white/black was Limited to 2gb. but i saw a few on craigslist, and ebay who claimed theirs was 4gb, i was wondering if this was possible, or if you could possibly even upgrade more.

First, it's impossible to upgrade a unibody to 16GB (specifically, 8GB sticks don't exist afaik).

Second, I've also installed 4GB in my wife's early 08 white macbook using 2x2GB Crucial ram and it works just fine. Whether 8GB (2x4) is possible I don't know, but 4GB sticks are prohibitively expensive right now and I defy anyone to outline how a regular user would ever require or benefit from greater than 4GB ram at this time :).

4gb rams go for ~$800 on ebay atm....the white one can go up to 4gb pc8500 ddr3...at least that's the maximum i've come across on a white macbook.

to be honest once you hit anything beyond 4gigs you really wont see any difference. unless you are doing some intensive programs for editing. i have 32 gigs on my mac pro tower and to be honest no difference.

I like to run VM's but with 4gb you notice a difference.
