    Hey guys,

I've been using Windows 8 on Bootcamp for a while and it was really flawless on my rMBP. As soon as Windows 8.1 came out of Preview on MSDN, I upgraded just for the independent display DPI feature. Instead of having a better dual display experience, I was met with worse.

For starters, independent display DPI doesn't seem to work. Setting the DPI (making sure that 'set a single DPI setting for all screens' checkbox was unchecked) doesn't seem to set it properly for a single display -- it always sets it for both. I even tried checking the box (just to make sure the instructions weren't screwed up) to no avail.

Second, when my TV or Mac goes to sleep, and I wake either up again, the Mac stops detecting the display. It doesn't appear in Windows Screen Resolution dialog nor in nVidia Control Panel anymore, and unplugging/plugging back the HDMI cable doesn't help. I always have to resort to restarting before the TV is detected again.

    Anyone encountered this issue?

P.S. My drivers are up-to-date, pretty sure my Bootcamp just updated nVidia drivers today. On OSX 10.8.4, I have no issues at all.

    Cheers

Have you tried using the reference drivers from NVIDIA's website rather than relying on what Apple includes in its Boot Camp support software?

It turns out I was already running the latest drivers from nVidia's website (complete with the GeForce Experience software) -- I completely forgot that I installed it. I removed it (so I'm assuming I'm just using Microsoft drivers, that's what it says in Device Manager..) and everything was fine for a while.

The issue came back again today -- didn't install anything new from my last report..

Did you install 8.1 over 8? If so, try a clean install of 8.1 and see if that doesn't fix your problem. Seems a lot of folks are having trouble when doing an upgrade, even on standard Windows machines.
