Hi I have an ibook g4 12" 1.0 ghz. i want to add ram to it but i have a question. according to everymac.com this model ibook uses pc2100 ram. i have a friend with a spare 256 stick that he removed from his powerbook g4 but its actually pc2700. will it work with my ibook? or am i taking a risk of damaging it? thanks in advance for advice....

It should work, just not at the maximum performance the PC2700 RAM is capable of.

A quick follow up question: Would it be possible to use the memory of a MBP (512mb PC5300 667mhz) on a 14.1" iBook that has an existing 512MB PC2700 DDR333 SO-DIMM?

    TIA

No. DDR2 SO DIMMs are not backwards compatible with DDR.
