(no, i'm not a convert. sorry.)

friend of mine is a mac user though and is having some trouble and i have no idea what I'm doing with those silly machines. she has a civ III disk (supposed to be compatible with OSX) and her machine (new MBP) just spits it out whenever it's inserted. no error message or explanation or any way to access it during the few seconds when it's in. what should she do? -.-

Did you insert it with the label side up?

    Man, that was cold.

Always a possibility, though. Also, the DVD might be scratched up too bad for it to be recognized, in which case you could use a variety of DVD cleaners (or just a lintless cloth first) and try again. I've used Macs occasionally and using a mac is not really that different than using a PC (same types of problems).

thats nothing new with those mac slot loading drives.
i had a macbook in 2006 too, its rather the format than the condition of cd /dvd.

Just a simple one, but sometimes forgotten in the panic, is it just this disc that its spitting out? If any disc you insert is spitting back out, then its probably the optical drive issue. Otherwise, it might be something to do with this particular disc...

    wow dude...

anyway, i think it's probably safe to assume that it's the disk. its a brand new comp and i think it's been working thus far with other disks.
