I'm trying to setup my Canon iP4300 with my MBP but am having no luck getting the MBP to recognize the printer. I got the printer with my MBP free, so I thought I would post it here thinking someone else had or has this problem.

I followed the directions and installed the drivers : http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/c...oadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=357&modelid=13528

but when I go to applications/utilities/ and run printer setup utility, the printer doesnt pop up and can't be found. I'm on a wireless connection if that helps, and there is no ethernet port on the printer to have it wired. totally lost here any clue whats up

hey u have to connect the printer to the macbook via usb correct? if so, you should be able to print, just click whatever you want to print and it will recognize it automatically, hope this helps

I use a Canon iP4300 with my MBP also using a USB cable and have no problems. Are you trying to run this printer wireless? If so, it doesn't have such capabilities.

I noticed after installing the drivers, I had to actually turn on the printer for my MBP to detect it.

Actually, many of them don't come with USB cables. I don't know why it is so difficult to supply one anyways..I guess it just costs too much for them to provide one.
