I'm thinking about purchasing a powerbook and I was wondering if i'm just using it for websurfing, school stuff, dvd watching, and a lil bit of gaming (stuff like the sims) should i upgrade the ram to 1G or just leave it at the standard 512MB?? suggestions and opinions would b very helpful.
    Thanx in advance

I don't think you will need the additional RAM for the needs you specified, as long as you don't want to do all of those things at once. Having said that, adding RAM is one of the easiest things you can do to boost performance. If you do I would suggest not buying the RAM through Apple, but don't buy any PC2700 stick either. There have been a bunch of tech support issues relating to RAM that have cropped up in the past with Apple. All of them were solved for me by getting Apple OEM RAM made by Samsung. One of the best places to buy this online is Data Memory Systems at http://www.datamem.com/
