If you're going to wait until July, I suggest waiting an extra month or so for the release of Apple notebooks with Merom. Also, the MacBook Pro will be refreshed with the release of Merom, and hopefully its heat issues will be resolved as well.

From what I hear it should be reasonably priced and sport the same socket as Core Duo. I'm not sure if it be can be swapped tho, haven't seen a MBP.. someone else might know better.

Core 2 Duo guys.. Core 2 Duo :D

i wuld say the duo core will still survive for the next 2 years.........it wuld b highly unfair to those who just purchase a mac book pro and then a merom mac book pro comes out

Lol. Since when is Apple fair, no offense?

Apple products are worth buying in the first 2-3 months after they appear (the sooner the better). Otherwise you can end up regretting your impatience. Just look at the silent MBP upgrade, now that the MB is out.

I doubt that Apple will not capitalize on the Merom hysteria. Plus a Merom MBP will probably have solved the heat and noise problems.

So you also noticed the lack of a 1.83Ghz MacBook Pro, eh?

And I was about to buy one. Good thing I waited and now I can even get a glossy screen.

The MBP cannot be swapped with a merom processor once it comes out because it is not soceketed. The processor is soldered to the motherboard.
