Hi guys I am a newbie here and need help with a problem my daughter is having with her new MBP. When she takes a pic with photobooth the screen goes almost completely black......so dim that you can just barely see anything. This happens whether an battery power or not......any idea what could be causing this ?

I haven't encountered that issue yet. Does the black (dimmed) screen only happen with Photo Booth? Can your daughter use the iSight (camera) in other applications, like iMovie or iChat?

You could try reinstalling Photo Booth from the MBP's Install Disks. Or maybe repair disk permissions, it's been known to fix all kinds of issues.

I really don't know, but at least I can BUMP your question. Peace.

Could it be because of the light sensor? I'm just wondering, because when you take a picture in a low-light environment the screen goes white to act like a flash, and maybe that's when the light sensor picks it up and dims the screen...

Yes the problem only seems to happen in photobooth only and yes the Isight camera works fine in other applications. The thing I really don't understand is that is the problem is intermittent......occuring only every 3 or 4 days according to her. A reboot is needed to clear the problem. Perhaps I will try the disk repair to see if it helps. I will also ask her the light conditions in the room when it happens......thanks for the suggestions........S.
