    pages in word?

    hey there i just installed the full version of iwork in my new macbook. i know that the files are "pages" files but i was wondering if i can use these documents in microsoft word, say if i were to email the document to myself and try to open it on another computer, please let me know if there is a way, thanks in advance!

    Yes, documents created in Pages show up fine on Word and can be edited in Word unless you go very detailed in laying out the pages. So its not 100% compatibility with Word but most documents will show up on Word in the same way it showed up in Pages.

    hey sam thanks for the quick response but for some reason when i try opening a .pages document in word trial it does not open. the document is kind of faded out and is not selectable, am i doing something wrong? thanks!

    .pages document? Oh, .page files! Oh, that won't work then most likely. But if you click Save As... in Pages there is an option to save as a Word Document or a Word XML. Save your Pages files as those.

    EDIT: Sorry about these instructions, I made a mistake :p. The correct instructions are in my next post below.

    Open up Pages, and start working on a document.

    Once you're done, click File on the Menu Bar.

    <strike>Click "Save As...", choose the location and save it as a Word Document.

    Open that file in Microsoft Word.</strike>

    Never mind, I made a mistake here :p. Wait a second, I'll type out the new instructions.

    Click File, and press "Export..."

    A window will pop up. Click on the Word icon and press Next...

    And choose where you want to save it.

    Voila!
