Just a quick question about how OS X compared to windows can't have their windows fully maximized automatically.
so i was wondering for example in a web browser and also other programs (eg itunes, photoshop, etc pretty much just all programs in general), if i do the one time manual adjustment of the window size will it stay like that after i close it and reboot/remove battery/whatever?
also what should i be careful about buying a MBP off ebay australia?
Thank you in advance.

Some programs do maximiz fully when you click on the green button. Opera does this and I am sure others too. It depends on how the program is programed I think. Most programs expand to how much space they think they need.
Ebay and laptops is always risky so yes be carefull! -
i went into myer (place where i can play with the MBP) to check it out and i opened safari, because it was the only web browser on offer and resized it then closed it and restarted the computer, and then when opening it up again it reverted to its previous size.
although i dont think this was normal because i had set the dock to hide itself as well and after i restarted the notebook it had also reverted to the dock also not being hiden, so my thought is that its set to revert to defaults when it is restarted.
so pretty much my question is do programs generally have a memory of their windows size in OS X?
thank you -

i just opened firefox, resized the window, closed the window, closed the program, and then opened firefox again.
the program remembered the size i set it to. -
was that with a reset though?
i was wondering if this is something across the board not just one program though. i do like to be able to see a few things at once sometimes but theres some apps that im going to want to hog the whole screen space including the dock area, hence why i tried it with hiding the dock.
thanks for the quick replies guys. -

i have the dock set to auto hide. your settings should hold. the one in the store might be set up specifically to allow people to see what it looks like but retain the original settings.
most programs will maximize to fit the contents of the window. so in microsoft word, for example, its pointless to use the full screen. if you are zoomed into the page at the 100% setting, and then you click the green button, it will make the window fit as much of the page as it can. but it won't bring it all the way across horizontally, because that would make a lot of wasted space (you have a vertically oriented page). you can fit all the contents of the window in less space than that. that is the idea behind the mac-simize button.
some applications will go full screen if you click the button, if it makes sense to. otherwise, you can drag the window to full screen and, again, your settings will hold.
one last question before buying the MBP
