I have had my macbookS for 2 weeks now
day1: bought black macbook. DIscovered that the caps and num lock keys did not light up and track pad was not responding.
day 2: traded it in for white macbook and purchased applecare with the difference. Discovered that the laptop made noised that I can't even describe.
day 3: traded it in for another white macbook. Was perfectlly fine for 9 days, so i applied the invisible shield on day 4. On day 12, i dont know what happened but the clicker on the mousepad did not click anymore. When i tried to click, it did not work.
day 13: went into store and traded it in. Opened it up at the store to discover that there were black marks all over the styrofoam and a few on the keyboard. EMployee exchanged it for me on the spot.
Day 13: it has been 3 hours since I was at the apple store. I just discovered a few cracks between the gray matte part around the keyboard and the macbook itself. I am able to lift the gray matte part up a little off the computer, and when I close the laptop, It seems like there is a gap larger than the usual. I dont think that the gray matte part was glued properly, but I might just be a little paranoid right now.
Is everyone else's macbook like this too? How big is the gap between the lid and the bottom when u close the laptop? I wish i noticed these small details on the previous macbooks which i have had to return. I'm not sure if this gap is abnormal or if im just being paranoid. It is exactly 1/16 of an inch wide.
Well for the past 2 weeks, i have found many problems with the macbook. Im not sure if im the only one macbook owner realizing these subtle details or if i really have a messed up macbook. For the last 4 macbooks, there really were problems and the employees exchanged them no questions asked. But after i traded in the 2nd laptop, it seemed as if they were starting to get suspicious and annoyed. I really wish i can get lucky enough to get a macbook that works and doesnt have problems with it. Im maybe considering just taking the loss from the restocking fee and switching back to hp, but i just loooooove mac after having used it for 2 weeks. I just wish apple didnt spit there products out of the factories so quickly...
so do you think i should maybe take it back into the store for the 4th time? im a student entering college so i need something that will last...Im just afraid that they might not think it is a big enough problem and wont exchange it for me after my hour long drive to get to the store...

that sucks. I personally do not have a macbook, i have a dell. But from what i read and seen in stores it seems very common for macbooks to have cosmetic damage to them keep looking until you find the perfect one. Sorry that is all i have to say.

sounds too sad to be true...if they're really annoyed just return it and get refund lol.

Well you are a very unlucky apple owner!
-
very unluncky apple owner.
Can you purchase it in school via a school deal?
perhaps you can buy it from another vender.
if all doesn't work, I suggest the IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad T series. It is a "business" notebook meant for road warriors, a notebook with pedigree and a good warranty program. The structure of the notebook is very tough and it will survive drops. Go have a look. -
I returned three MacBook Pros before finally getting a fourth that worked perfectily. I, like you was switching and found it impossible to return to Windows for my main OS. Good luck with whatever you decide. I feel your pain.

Wow talk about a string of bad luck.
After four times, I wouldn't blame you for not wanting to continue with your Apple Experience, what you've seen is totally inadmissable. It's possible that the store you went too recieved a bad pallet (very bad) things happen.
I'm like Cashmonee, I'm hooked on OS X. Windows isn't even an option anymore. Yes, I could keep continuing to use linux, but lets be honest here, I don't have the time these days too customize my linux and edit config files all day, so really OS X is perfect for me.
I support open source, and yes I know OS X isn't open source, but they do use Open source software, to me I think its great that the public (if they are aware or not) that they can see the real power of open source. anyways I'm getting off topic.
If you decide to give one more chance, than awesome! If not, maybe further down the road. g'luck. -
Maybe its an In Store thing because I havnt read many people who order thiers offline had to return them. Maybe the Macbooks siting in the store in the stock room thigns happen to them, I dont know. But I had a bad experience shipping with Apple but they have compinsated me and said there sorry and everything. So just restating that not to let one bad experience ruin your overall Mac Experience.

Damm talk about bad luck -
It happens to us all sometimes, bad apples, shipping problems, crappy company (not saying Apple is though, just using generalization)
oh my gosh...returned 4 macbooks
