I am a total mac newbie ... I am thinking of getting one of those refreshed i5 i7 macs ...
i got a question ...
are the installer DVD for OSX also refreshed such that if I used them to install OS X on my brand new refreshed Mac hardware ... I wont run into problems of the kernel not recognizing the i5 and i7 cpu ???
How do I know that the installer DVD has i5 and i7 cpu support ???

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Apple didn't release a new version of OS X with the latest hardware updates, so it's safe to say that 10.6.3 plays nice with the new CPUs.
10.6.3 has also been out long enough that it is likely that the dvd shipped in the new boxes is either 10.6.3 or .2, either of which will play nice. You should be fine. -
Apple isn't going to sell you a machine with DVDs as coasters that cannot actually install on it... of course what they sell you will work....
if your asking about a retail version of OSX.. why do you need it? the Laptop already comes with it. -
