Information like that is far from definitive, and will remain so until it is actually announced by Apple.
I plan to buy the next MBA, when it is available, so I've been quite interested myself. The backlit keyboard will not be a deal-breaker for me though.

Apple is the most tight lipped company I have ever seen. I suspect when they do change it up it will be late 2011 and it will have an I3 ULV, backlit keyboard, and thunderbolt... but who really knows. Rumor has it that they are going away from intel chips, so really the sky is the limit.

I think you need to look at Apple's past to derive some type of guesstamation as to when the MBA will be completely updated. Normally, Apple's products have a one year lifespan and their computers may receive a minor spec bump half-way through their life. The MBA was completely updated in November (someone please correct me if I am wrong) so models featuring new processors and any other upgrades (such as backlight keyboards) likely won't be coming out until November of this year.

So there is still a long time before any definitive news even comes out. I also highly doubt that Apple is going to announce anything sooner as their annual iPod event (which has taken place in September/October for the past few years now) will likely showcase the new iPods and the iPhone 5 so they won't want to take away from that thunder. It also looks like they are going to ride the iPad success wave through the summer and make that their focus at least until the iPhone 5 comes out.

Of course, as previously pointed out, I could be completely wrong. Nobody really truly anything about Apple products until they are actually announced by Apple. Anything not officially announced by Apple before a new product launches is just rumor and speculation. To give you an example: everyone was predicting that the 3G iPod touch was going to have a rear facing camera. That never happened. There were also many rumors pointing to Apple putting a retina display in the iPad 2 (I think the whole retina display is blown way out of proportion) yet it has the same resolution as the first model.

There's an article somewhere about them moving to ARM in 2013. That's 20 years away in dog years. The greatest thing would be a LLano, that's a pipe dream, of course. Late 2011 i3 sounds about right.

Even then I would take those ARM rumors with a very small grain of salt.
