    new to mac need advice please

    so.. i have always used windows and im starting to program on different languages, a couple of friends invited me to program with them, the thing is they all have macs and want to make apps for IOS, so..i guess i need a mac too. again i dont know what to go with, macbook13inch,15? retina no retnia? what specs to go with?, mainly going to use it for programing and school.

    Go with the 13. If you're not gaming, there's very little reason to go for the 15.

    Also, you'll find that app development in general is much more streamlined on Mac than on any Windows system, primarily because Mac is still a part of the *nix family. Terminal is simply better than any IDE.

    Granted... when it comes to debugging, Visual Studio offers a pretty good interface for C++ work (albeit xcode isn't bad either for providing memory dumps), but learning to use gcc, or better yet, llvm, is quite the resume booster.

    I concur the rmbp 13 is a good buy, don't go with the past, you are going to be resolution constrained
