how long do you think it will take for the technology in the new mbp to be secure? i heard that after the current mbp was released, there were some problems that needed to be sorted out

right now i am planning on getting a mbp next week (i really like the current version) and although i can wait, i dont want there to be any glitches in my first laptop

    thanks

obvisouly i cant promise you anything, but if you were to go out today and buy a mbp, you would be very unlikely to find any hardware glitches within the machine. the macbook pro is almost aging tech now, and a *possibly significant* update is expected within 2 weeks.

personally, i think you would be more than safe waiting out the upcoming world dev conference and enjoy the benefits of the update.

but again, this set of apple hardware is time tested.

    your choice. good luck!

As I've said before, there most definitely won't be anything in the new mbp that will completely ruin your experience. The issues before were just with heat, but that didn't cause and system failures or anything, it just restricted performance a bit(it was still great at the time though).
the LED LCD technology has been around for a while, so I wouldn't be too worried about that being a big problem. The only issues I could see anybody having issues with would be if they do a form factor redesign. That's what caused the heat issues previously, and something along those lines may happen again.

Apple wont let a crummy product go out their doors.

New technology is almost guaranteed to have some type of "glitch" no matter what brand it comes from. However, AppleCare is very good at fixing their notebook's problems, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
