    Hi Guys,

I'm stuck on which one is worth getting, i like the last matte macbook pro over the new one(non matte), my only issue is the black screen problem that is present on the old nvidia 8600GT video card in which they just die, i dont wanna buy the old one to have the issue 2 month after buying it, i mean yeah i can buy the 3 year warranty and have them fix it each time but that does not seem to be pratical, any advice on what to do? I really want a matte macbook not the glossy nonsense :(

Honestly, i think the probability of your GPU failing is not that high, comparing to the other manufacturers, the MBP failures have been quite low.

Honestly, i think the new MBP is a better investment.

If you really want matte screen and are not in a budget, you should check out the 17"

or you could buy the new 15" and install an antiglare cover on your screen

Your probably right... i just hate hardware issues, software i can deal with :) Never understood why they got rid of ati :(

See I'd get the new one, but the previous 17' is $1k less, and there's no significant performance difference to justify it

Apple will replace the logic board when the 8600 dies in it. I -think- they will do it indefinitely, but I dont know. I know mine last a good 8 months, with HEAVY gpu usage.

Apple will replace it, so its not a matter of being stuck with something that is broken, and its not really apple fault.

If you dont want to deal with hardware problems, (or the possibility of them) then just get the new one.

Though if you do get the old one, I've heard that if it happens 2 or more times, you might be able to complain and get one of the new laptops. I know its happened to someone I know.
