I've been offered a trade for a brand new macbook black for my old macbook pro.

I have a previous generation macbook pro and would like to upgrade. I'm considering the black macbook penryn with 2.5ghz core 2 duo, 4 gigs ram 250hd. My old macbook pro is 2ghz core duo, 2 gigs ram, 250hd.

Which do you think is a better/faster laptop? Or should I just bump up to the new macbook pro?

    Any help is appreciated.

What will you be doing with your laptop? Gaming, A/V Editing, CAD, etc.? The Pro has a dedicated GPU and other higher level hardware as compared to the entry macbook.

I love the size of the MB, and would consider such a trade, too, though I've had nothing but perfect service from my own MBP.

I don't think there's any doubt that the MB is faster than your MBP, but if you need the video card in your machine, that trade may not be wise. Sure sounds tempting though, doesn't it! :)

get the MBP instead; the MB is a step down in the screen quality department. in general system responsiveness the macbook with its higher clockspeed is going to be more responsive; it wont matter much of the GPU (in exception to 3d intensive gaming); coz the macbook has small screen resolution and i believe the new intel intergrated GPU is strong enough (for day-to-day task; and basic gaming).

i kinda like the macbook though; small compact size my only gripe is the screen; its small; and doesnt suit the mac os x zoom feature quite well. i kinda like the simplicity also; less things that can go wrong. but all-in-all; if you want all-in-one computer; the MBP is DEFINITELY the way to go.
