What kind of temps does the new MBP get? The most important thing that turned me away for earlier version was that it was more suited as a frying pan than a laptop.

The new MBP dissippates heat MUCH better than the old one. While gaming I top out around 78 C and idle about 64 or so in Windows. OS X under the 9400 is much cooler at like 32 C idle.

Same here. My HP dv1000 can fry an egg  . Just picked up a new MBP and the two don't compare in heat. I'm not saying the MBP doesn't get hot - it will. It's just not "burn your thighs hot". For example, it's been on my lap for over 2 hours now and the heat is minimal at best (just light surfing). Not uncomfortable mind you, but not New England cold either.

Another thing, my HP sounds like a jet airplane ALL DAY LONG!! I can't hear the fans at all in the MBP. And according to iStat pro these babies are spinning all day. I couldn't be happier. :p

That is great news! That sounds really good, I did wonder how the new casing worked out in terms of heat.

oh good. I bought a MBP 2 years ago (the first generation CD ones) and immediately returned it because it was way too hot. It only clocked at 2.00ghz at that time; and I thought the new ones at 2.53ghz or 2.80ghz would be way hotter. Fortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case.
