I just got my mbp c2d 2.16 one week ago, I usually have it connected to external speakers. Today I had it in front of the tv and notice that the right speaker doesn't work. I checked everything software wise (balance et al) well my balance works with my external speakers so I'm thinking this is a hardware issue, right speaker dieing. I've found others that have this same issue. And I thought I would not have any problems! Everything else works perfect. I'm soo disappointed! alas I can not part with my notebook (its my main unit) so I guess I have to wait till I go to Houston to get it fixed at an apple store. I'm located in Baton Rouge.

Yep...nothing you can do with it except bring it to the nearest Apple Store. Sorry to hear about it and good luck in fixing your beloved MBP!

Apple's very good about fixing things in a timely manner, or so I heard. Good luck.

Update: my speaker came back to life on it's own. Weird, I have been carrying it around for a while to and fro school. Maybe it needed to be "broken-in" lol.

apple didn't quite fix this issue on my mbp because when i turned the volume up the right speaker sounded disgusting. They also said that certain bitrate of music would affect the speaker, so they refuse to fix it for me. While other laptops are fine with loud sound and even my mbp's left speakers are ok with loud sound, I don't know why they can't fix the right speaker...is that common with mbp?
