    Hi

Im very new to osx so excuse my stupidity

Ive had a mbp 15" for quite awhile but the battery was buggered so on monday i ordered a new one and it arrived yesterday. I put it in and everything was fine . I then decided to do a software update it was just over 1gb.

This is where the problems started.

If i shut the lid to hibernate it, then reopen, it takes about 20 mins to come on, it shows the the blue white screen with apple logo and a progress bar which as i said above takes 20 mins to fill up. If i shutdown and restart it does the same.

My battery shows a big X in osx. During the long boot the mag charger light turns to orange which i assume means the battery is charging, but doesnt show as charging when osx finally comes on. If i shut the lid the light goes to green. If i try to start it without the charger in it does nothing.

It was fine before the update, its on osx 10.6.8
Anyone have any ideas or anything?help!!!!Thanks

Need more details about the system itself.
