close to two month old macbook ..specs in sig
why is my macbook running so slow? my internet has been a little flakey lately so that MAY be the case....but lately, its been taking a while to open up programs...some even as basic as Photo Booth. Granted, i have a lot more pictures in Photo Booth now, but when i first got my computer it would open and the camera would be available for use almost instantaneously...now it takes a while to load the pictures and camera. is there any diagnostic tests i could run on my macbook to see if its alright? i dont know, it may be ok but it seems to be running drastically slower then when i first bought it....

You may want to try resetting PRAM and repairing Disk Permissions...something that's buggy may be slowing down your MacBook. Try that.

And also, check iStat Pro and see what's your CPU and RAM usage.

sam - thanks for the quick response. could you please guide me in the resetting of PRAM and repairing disk permissions....also, iStat pro says my CPU and RAM usage seem pretty low/normal (4% user/95% idle on CPU, and 130MB active memory.)
