I was wondering if this issue is constant for you guys:

I received my first mbp, and on the first day, when I was changing it from one wall socket to the other, the magsafe stopped providing power. I did the SMC reset as per applecare instructions, and was advised to swap for a new one, which I did.

Today again when I was swapping it to another power socket the problem reappeared. I followed the troubleshoot guide at apple and let the magsafe unplugged for a few min, then suddenly voila its working again.

So what do you guys think?
should I pissed, and call for another magsafe,

or this is something that I should be pissed and is a design problem with the magsafe itself?

I find my connector is pretty finicky (cord to computer, not cord to wall). I sometimes need to plug it and unplug it a couple times before it provides a good connection and starts charging the battery. When it's got a bad connection, the glowing light on the power plug only glows dimly, and the battery icon in the top-right of the screen shows a power cord connection but states "not charging." Is that what's happening with you?

I was getting a problem when I had inverted the magnetic connector, so that the wire would not be in the way when I plug in a USB drive. It worked initially, but then mostly it would not work so I went back to connecting the wire the traditional way and it has worked since then. I do have hits and missses where I connect the magsafe to the Mac and there is no light, but taking it out and connecting it again usually fixes it.

If you have an AppleCare store nearby, I'd suggest taking it to the store to have a certified Apple technician look at it. They should have the best judgement as to whether it needs a repair or replacement, regardless of whether or not the problem is minor. After all, you just dropped over a grand on this computer, it should work without any problems.

The LED light on my magsafe port sometimes doesn't light up, but it still charges my mbp.

I would say that it's not a problem until it Doesn't charge your battery.

All the better reason to have a technician look at it.
