I just downloaded a file (iSquint) and it shows up as a "Volume" on my desktop.

How do I install this program into my computer so it shows up in my applications and not as a volume / removable storage on my computer.

thanks for ansswering my stupid question.

Yes, installing things is a tad different in OS X for the most part. Most programs will be in .dmg format and will mount as a drive. If the application file is in there then all you do is open the .dmg and drag and drop the Application into your Applications folder. That's it. Although some apps may require you to run an installer located in the .dmg.

Took me a while to understand what to do the first day I got mine, so you're not alone :p

If you're wondering, to get rid of most programs all you do is drag and drop the Application into your trash, unless the app came with a specific installer.

Ah I see. Thanks for your reply.

It just seems weird to me because the program was mounted in a "Volume" and inside that volume were other files that went along with the program, such as ReadMe files and such.

Usually in Windows when I install a program, a new folder is created for that and all the contents are inside of it. For this, I just dragged the program standing alone, and threw away the readme files and other things that were complimentary with the file.

and again, thanks for your reply.
