hey does anyone know if the current macbook still has the sharp edges that dig into some people's wrists when typing? i'm considering a MB versus waiting for the new thinkpads or dell e-latitudes. i'd assume that apple has somehow alleviated the problem after 2 years w/ the MB!?

Its not that significant of a problem as its made out to be. The edge isn't round, yes, so like any other surface if you constantly bump your wrists against it, it will hurt (it won't bleed though, just feels tingly with a little pain). But as long as your wrists aren't on the palmrest when you're typing (which it shouldn't be anyway), you'll be fine.

My MB never never caused any pain to my wrists. This is the first I've ever even heard of there being an issue with "sharp edges." I suppose your wrists might feel "tingly" if you have a problem such as carpal tunnel syndrome, but am fairly certain that using a MB won't cause your wrists to bleed! [IMG] [IMG]

When I first got my Macbook, I thought the edges were actually 'sharp'. I've definitely heard a lot about this when I got my Macbook, and I also had the sharp edges on mine. Anyways, the "sharp edges" don't bother me anymore - either I've dulled them down by usage (which I highly doubt) or I've gotten used to not resting my wrists on them (which is a good thing!). Either way, whether the Macbook does have sharp edges or it's a physiological thing, after a while, you don't even notice it.

I like to scratch my arms with my MB :) But I think the edges got duller with time.

yea i played with my friends macbook and noticed the edges a little big...it just depends on how you type...if you rest you wrists on the edge, which as pointed out shouldnt be done, it might feel some discomfort...go to a mac store and check it out for your self...

Well, I guess if you rest your palms when you use the trackpad then you might scratch, but its not as bad as it sounds.

Sam, I was serious when I mentioned never having heard of the issue, but apparently it exists - others have obviously noticed and felt discomfort. I was having a little fun with your post, but didn't mean to be quite as obnoxious as my post sounded. I actually thought you were deliberately exaggerating and having some fun yourself. So, apologies to you.

Frankly, If I were to notice something like this, I'd be among the first to complain and gripe like crazy about spending money on a machine with such a "feature."
