Hello all, I'm interested in the regular macbook and the screen size doesnt really bother me b/c i want to hook it up to my 19inch acer widescreen when im home. My question is can the regular macbook support the resolution of 1440x900 or can you tell me how i can achieve that without going pro.

    It will support it.
I've got my macbook hooked up to a 1920x1200 display via the mini-dvi->dvi adapter dongle thingy, and it works just fine. It is apparent that the gma950 is a little underpowered for that resolution though, as some of the eyecandy animations (Expose, for instance) have a markedly lower frame rate. It's not painful to use or anything, just noticable. I can play back the trailers in front row fullscreen just fine...

Yup, I wouldn't go above WSXGA+ on the GMA950 but it will work. WXGA+ should run well for most 2D work.

Extended desktop and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 1920 by 1200 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors

    (Apple.com)

yep it will handle a up to 1920x1200 display, how well. not sure, should be finde for the most part

It will certainly support it. If your acer monitor only has a VGA input and no DVI, there are also dvi to vga dongles that come with the Macbook and Macbook Pro.

Ah okay well i got vga to dvi converters with the acer screen but that will come in quite useful.

The Macbook has mini-dvi though, not dvi. So you would need to make sure you order the proper adapter with it.

If you order from the Apple Store online it will give you a choice of mini-dvi to vga and mini-dvi to dvi adapters on the Macbook configuration page (neither is included with the Macbook, only the Macbook Pro has a dvi-to-vga adapter included).
