Hi, I just have a few quick questions before I consider seriously a macbook
note, I do not have the money for a macbook pro, so please dont recommend one

    1) what is the battery life like of the black macbooks that have teh core duo 2.0 ghz processor, NOT THE core 2 duo, just on standard web browsing with wifi on and brightness at a good level
    2) if you run bootcamp or parallels, is the speed of windows xp or vista about the same as it would be if you were just running xp or vista on a PC with equivalent parts, or are some things lost in translation
    3) what kind of heat does a macbook give off and how loud are the fans compared to other computers

    thanks in advance

    1) dont know sorry
    2) there probably is some, but under normal conditions i dont think it will be as noticable.
    3) not that much heat (i can use it on my legs), and the fans arent loud but u can get a program like smcFanControl to manually set the speeds.

    1) I would say around 3 hours or more.

    2) Speeds should be very close to a PC equivalent of a MacBook. But keep in mind most PCs have bloatware installed (and you think you got rid of them, but sometimes they're not fully gone) and that will slow down PCs.

    3) The CPU temperatures idle around 45-60 C, and when watching a flash video it usually jumps to 70 C. But this isn't too different from what you find on a PC. The fans are extremely quiet (a very faint hum, quieter than my desktop by far) and very very quiet compared to my old Fujitsu Lifebook.
