Rainbow Six Vegas must be horribly optimized then, since other modern games run fine. And yeah it gets hot :D I think after a few CoD4 rounds I can flip it over and fry some bacon and eggs.

Psh. Why limit it to the MBP?

The Asus EEE PC would be the best notebook ever. Just throw in an 8800m GTX, a Quad Core Extreme and 8 gagillion GB of RAM.

Apple needs a new and improved MBP badly IMO.

and why would you even want an 8800m gtx in it if it's already burning hot in its current state?

Apple needs to a new thermal design. The currant case sucks. They also need to add an SD slot at the very least.

i don't see why apple should even bother with the macbook pro- the macbook air is the future, it just needs:

    SLI 8800m gtx,
    faster 9 series penryn processor
    1280x800 13" screen that can unfold into a 1920x1200 21" screen
    hdmi, dvi, vga, sd, usb
and a 10 hour battery life.

honestly, the macbook air is so close to being the perfect notebook, its just being crippled by its integrated graphics and slow processor and small screen that doesn't unfold and lack of ports. they should really get on it, they are SOO close to having the best gaming machine ever.

aside from the sarcasm, to the OP:

try installing xp for more gaming performance if you need it.

Apple is famous for integrating last year's tech into current machines and then charging a premium for it.
They'll pick up the 8800m after it's been on the market for 6-8 months, then they will integrate it and charge 2x the price.

    :)

Not really anymore...what usually is the thing is Apple gets new technology pretty early, and then doesn't update it for a while :p. Say LED-backlit screens for example...they got them pretty much first. As for processors, they either get them early or after everyone...seems like they like to keep the news to themselves ;).

Actually, I would prefer the MBP at 14.1-inches personally...I think that is the best screen size, as its not too small and not too big (15.4-inches can be a little big sometimes for traveling). So yeah, 14.1-inches, all the goodies from the current MBP + MBA and even more, and yeah .

My dream MBP would have an SD card slot, a fingerprint reader, and offer the option of a WXGA 1200x800 screen.

    I think I'm out of luck. :(

    ok...on a more serious note...
the macbook pro desperate needs another usb port. i would gladly trade off one of those firewire ports for an extra usb port.

3usb ports, leave the firewire there. 8800m GTX 512mb, and bigger HDD (320) 7200rpm. I'll buy that in an instant!

While we're at it, drop the weight, say, 6 pounds ;).
