Does anyone else feel that its a bit uncomfortable to use? To people who own a macbook, what is your opinion?

Its a hate or love it thing, I personally love the keyboard now that I'm used to it. Its responsive and feels comfortable to type and is eye-pleasing.

My suggestion is test it out at a store. Everyone has different preferences and likes.

Do people give the same response on the MBP's? Or is this just a MB thing?

I might want to revisit the local Apple store to try the keyboard out...

Well the MacBook Pro has a keyboard similar to all the other notebooks, so if you loved laptop keyboards you would most likely love the MBP keyboard. The MacBook's keyboard was very different to keyboards found in Windows notebooks, so people may not get used to it. Sony introduced a new notebook that uses the MacBook's keyboard design, so I guess they approve of it.

Generally most people like the MBP keyboard. Some love the MB keyboard, some hate it. I think it's great and pleasant to type on. The layout was the only thing I had to get used to coming from Windows.

I find it a bit shallow and cramped, but my friend says its totally fine. So, again, all about preferences :)

i must say, coming from using a keyboard such as the one on my 17" powerbook (same as the macbook pro) it took me a good 2 weeks to get used to and break in the keyboard on my macbook. it was a bit stiff at first, and it feels like you need to pound on the keys.

Im used to it now, but i still prefer the powerbook/mbp keyboard

Coming from a "normal" laptop keyboard to the Macbook was in my experiance not a problem. It took very little time to get used to, and in fact after a day or two I fell in love with the keyboard. It feels great to type on and the responsiveness is perfect for me.
It also looks great and unlike normal keys that get stuck with dust (and food.. my bad). That has yet to happen on my mac.
So to big thumbs up from me!

The keyboard on the macbook was one of the many things that pushed me towards getting the macbook pro instead. I just abhor the damn thing, but many people I know love it, and it was the deciding factor for them in switching.

Yeah it does take some getting used to, but it's a very nice design which, after you're used to it, becomes just as easy to use as any other keyboard.

Coming from Windows-based computers, I love the MBP's keyboard. The only difficulty I had was using the "Apple" key instead of CTRL for all the shortcuts I use.

i find the keyboard a bit "soft" or mushy and shallow... not as firm and sturdy as conventional notebook keyboards. On the positive side, I think the spacing is just perfect.

I also dislike how the placement of fn and CTRL keys are switched!!
