well other than the extreme heat that comes off the macbook, i read some problems that involves creaking noise off the hinges of a macbook. Since i am really planning on purchasing one due to tax holiday, i was just wondering if anybody on this forum with a macbook had problems with creaking hinges on their macbooks.

Also when i went into the applestore i noticed there were some macbooks that had creaking noise, but i figured it was just because so many customers abused it.

I've heard of noises in MBPs, not Macbooks. Since it has one big hinge at the middle instead of the usual two, I'd guess it is much more difficult to creak...

Try reading through this forum, going back the past 3 weeks, this issue has been addressed so many times here, such as heat, video graphics etc.

I did answer it in a way, but i was wondering if people who bought it had this problem. Thus, my reason for posting this thread in the first place.

Creaking is OK. The unit is made out of plastic, what do you expect? I would start to worry if the hinges are *too* tight.

Since I have first hand experience with this, I will share my experience. I own a black macbook and bought it the first week or two it was released. A month or so later I started noticing my macbook began to creak (like a creaky door) as I opened, closed or adjusted the screen. The creak only occured after the notebook warmed up and was moderately hot. I believe this is because the plastic would expand when it gets hot and thus creating the creaky noise.

I took it to a mac genuis and they sent it in for repair. 9 business days or two actual weeks later I got it back. They replaced a "clutch barrel assembly" and for some other reason, the entire bottom plastic. The creak is now gone and replaced with a more acceptable faint click when opening the lid.

I believe this issues is more associated with the black macbook due the difference in materials used between the two colors. The white having the gloss finish. However, I have also heard accounts of the problem happening to the white models too.
