Can anyone with a Macbook comment on the evenness of the battery with the bottom of the rest of the notebook?

My battery sits perhaps 1 - 1.5mm underneath the rest of the notebook when fully inserted. Is this normal?

Mine is perfectly flat and even with the rest of the notebook, did you take your battery out? It just might be that it wasn't fully entered back in correctly.

The battery actually sits a tiny bit underneath the rest of the notebook surface. I had removed the battery to install memory and replace the hard drive, but the locking mechanism for the battery seems to pull it too far into the chassis.

It's not a big deal, but this was an expensive (black) macbook, and it hurts the elegant appearance of the machine.

    Should I call apple?

It sounds like if its working leave it alone, but at the same time it seems like a grey area of cosmetic...I dunno. it's really up to you, give it a shot maybe they'll even know what you should do.
