So I got the new MB and this is my first mac and im loving it. one thing that im missing from my old laptop was a program that I had for windows that put a little gauge of the cpu usage in the toolbar. Is there a program similar to this, one that auto starts and always run in the background?

    IstatPro

And if you look under your Utilities folder, you can use Activity Monitor.

I second istatpro. It will show you the CPU usage in the dashboard as well as a few other things very quickly such as battery health and capacity, wireless info, hard-disk space, temperatures, and of course the usage of each core on the CPU.

    Edit: Plus its free.

I run a combination of iStat Pro, and Menu Meters. There are just some things I prefer about each... But I've got everything up in my menu bar that I care to know about the hardware...

You must not have any friends, or a life at all for that matter with as much trolling as you do in the Apple section. Get a **** life already.

I don't think he realized he was in the Apple forums... I think he was referring to the fact that Vista has a hardware monitor that is in the sidebar by default (at least was on my install).
