    woot....
i got tired of waiting for the order i had made online to ship to me ... and when one of the mac stores near my place had a stock of the mbp i wanted... i called them up ... told them to hold onto one of the 15.4" mbps (2.4GHz/Glossy screen/2GB ram). The guy at the store initially said he'ld manage to hold onto one for 2 hrs ... no more.. but i pleaded to him to hold onto it for a couple of more hours .. and he was nice enough to accent to my request....

anyways... it was great to pic it up from the store ... apart from the student discounts... i got $ 150 off on apple care... and they gave one on one and procare along with it .... took a .mac subscription also discounted at 49bucks instead of 99 .. and can get iwork '08 for about 35 bucks if I buy it in the next one week .... still pondering but don't know what to do about that ..

i could have gotten a free printer as well (after mail in rebate) .. but i will be heading to another country in a couple of weeks... and can't go through the hassles of rebates and stuff right now...
so all in all really impressed...
i have to say the SCREEN is brilliant!!! the screen isnt so ultra glossy that it becomes too reflective ... yet... it's got a crispness and vibrance that's hard to describe... very very vibrant ...
the lid has a slight warping ... symmetrical on both ends... it doesnt bother me ... it's only noticeable when u close the lid and look at it along that edge... in anycase... i will be going to the apple store tommorrow for a one on one .. and might ask then about the screen warp.. but to be honest.. it's hardly noticeable for all intents and purposes ....

i don't know whether there's any yellowness towards the bottom of the screen .. there's no noticeable bleeding ... and i used various shades of solid colours as wallpapers.. and the color quotient is uniform throughout the screen ! ... great! :)

i shall be posting some questions that i feel other new users switching to mac will also be facing... and hope some of you guys might be able to answer them ...

and also will hope to give my inputs on the thread started by Sam that would be covering a range of topics ....

i shall be starting off a thread with feedback and thoughts on the mbp .... and hopefully will cover some topics that newcomers might have questions on ... especially initially getting aquainted with the system and things like that...
i have a one to one session tommorrow where i hope to clarify a lot of doubts in terms of optimizing and speeding up keystrokes ... shortcuts... exploring functionality ... that sort of thing .... will post when i get back ..
