I just use a microfibre cloth (like one for cleaning glasses, if you wear any) and water. It works well.

I use the shaggymac keyboard protector. It's just a big microfiber cloth, and I"m too lazy to get a separate one just to clean the screen.

im not sure if it will work with the MBP but it works wonders for the MB. I picked up a package of TWO magic erasers for $2.00 USD...so pretty cheap, and quite effective. Also, I use "Dust-Off" Monitor Wipes for my laptop screen. I got it at Comp USA i think....

I read a couple posts that scared me. People saying they used a cloth and water and water got under their screen. I used to just use water and some paper towel on my old laptop without any issues, but those couple of posts have me scared to use liquid on the mbp screen

I'd be more worried about the paper towel, which is wood-based usually and particularly rough even compared to normal paper, than the water.

Usually when people say "water", they mean they dab the cloth to get it moist. There shouldn't be much water residue on your screen at all afterwards - if there is, you probably used too much water.

Doesn't Apple recommend that you use water and a cloth to clean their screens?

No, they recommend you use iKlear, but it costs (here in Canada) $30  :D.

Well, it works well, as advertised. But I just wouldn't pay $30 for cleaning liquid when water works fine.

Maybe those "Apple Geniuses" recommend iKlear. Probably because they sell that crap at the Apple Store. I guess it's not actually crap. It does work, it's just a waste of money.

Apple's Care, Use, and Safety Information says:
Personally I use a $4 microfiber cloth I got at OfficeMax with a very small amount of water if necessary.

That probably works with the same rationale of when Chris Rock says Robitussin will fix a broken leg.

You're right! I need to redirect this thread ;).

Yeah, iKlear isn't crap...its just overpriced :p. It does its job extremely well, but its not worth $30.
