I use either the built in itunes album art or I put it in manually as I add albums to my collection....highlight all the files for the album and cut and paste or drag and drop....

I also just manually drag cover art from Google Image search or something into the Cover Art box in iTunes. It's faster than you think, especially if you have all your music nicely organised into albums.

Mainly, you need to have the information to be the same as it is shown in iTunes. Sometimes, what you may want to do is trigger it in another form, say for example:

    Nelly Furtado - Loose

    It didn't work, so instead:

Nelly Furtado - Loose (Deluxe Version)

Then it triggered it. So yeah, remember it has to be the same as iTunes Store shows it. I get all my album art.

Try SlorthRadio Cover search, it works really well.
    http://www.slothradio.com/covers/

It basically searches amazon for covers, and then shows them up in search results. Works really well for finding cover art. All my stuff in my library has covers now cause of it

I might be able to help - so long as you're willing to spend a bit of time.

    Consolidating Albums

If you’re like me (or other people too, I suppose), you probably listen to a fair number of albums that are compilations of various artists. Unfortunately, this often means that the Dance Mix 2008 album you’ve been enjoying is currently split into a dozen or so different ‘albums’. This sucks, especially if you want to use the Cover Flow view and quickly add cover art. Here’s how we fix this:

    1. Select all of the items in your library that belong to the same library.
    2. Right click on the items and select ‘Get Info’.
    3. Type ‘Various’ or ‘Various Artists’, or something like that for the Album Artist and under ‘Compilation’ choose ‘Yes’. Click OK. Note: If the divided album isn’t a compilation album, but rather is an album by a single artist, insert their name in the Album Artist field. While you’re there, you can also fix up the Genre and other information as you see fit.

Now that we’ve consolidated the albums, we can move on to adding album art that is missing.

    Adding Album Art

Download Doug’s Find Album Artwork With Google script and install it. You're going to give it one hell of a workout. Select a song from an album that lacks cover art, open the Applescript menu item, and click on ‘Find Album Artwork With Google’. Find the appropriate image in the browser window that opened. Right-click on the selected on in iTune, choose ‘Get Info’, select the ‘Artwork’ tab, and drag-and-drop the album artwork that is in your browser window. Click OK. You’ve now added the artwork for your album!

Now go do it for the other items in your library. If you’re into dance/techno/anything that isn’t iTunes-popular, I’m sorry for the time that this will take. I highly recommend drinking while doing this - it makes the time somehow more bearable :p

    1. Export your music library into plain text by going to File>>Export
    2. Go to: http://art4itunes.com/getart/uploadtracks.php
    3. Upload your plaintext file
    4. The site will parse and retrieve as much art as possible, along with track names and play times.
    5. Manually drag & drop the art you want

NOTE: Sometimes the accuracy isn't to great.

I second Sam's comment. I've got a large collection of music, and a suprising amount of album art is in my collection (I say suprising, because all of it was added by iTunes "Get Album Artwork" function, and I've got some obscure stuff. Examples, Every Possessed album has artwork, and most of my Dark Funeral albums have artwork too).

Double check to make sure the artist name is exact as well.
