"Technology is always in motion", aside. Is it a good time to buy a macbook pro right now? Are they well rounded machines with few to no laws?(obviously there is no such thing as a perfect notebook).

    need opnions, short explanations.
    thanks

The Macbook pro is already a few months old and has hardly droped in price. Santa Rosa is coming in a week but no idea when Apple will upgrade.

If you can afford to wait like three months or more, then do. Otherwise, buy it now.
If you want to use OS X, you don't really have much choice when it comes to notebooks. So there isn't really any use in opinions or explainations. Just read the reviews if you want in depth information.

Well in my opinion the MacBook Pro is great...no flaws really. But is it the best time to buy a MacBook Pro right now? Santa Rosa is just around the corner...and there's no telling whether Apple will release a Santa Rosa MBP next week or they could possibly wait two months, as they did with the Core 2 Duo launch. There's no telling.

Of course, Santa Rosa is cool but if you got a Core 2 Duo MBP right now its not going to be a big big deal that you "missed" Santa Rosa. But if you have the time to wait a bit like two months, then I'd say wait and get a Santa Rosa MBP.

I just ordered a macbook pro... It didn't sound like santa rosa would do anything life changing to the computer. the new led based screens sound cool but who knows how long they will be in coming out. meanwhile I didnt want to wait any longer to upgrade my laptop; I've been thinking about it since december!

I just bought mine, it was a great investment. As far as I know, as others have said, nothing life changing will come from Santa Rosa, just a slight speed increase. If you can wait, wait. I have a feeling that when Apple does release the MBP with SR, it will update the graphics card to something like the ATI X2600, which would be a nice boost, possibley the nVidia 8600 also. Wait if you can, don't if you can't, simple as that. Technology is always changing and even though you said discount that, it is true.

    EDIT (irrelivant): YAY, 100th post.

The only one gripe that I have with the Macbook Pro is that you can't customize the processor selection real well. 2.33ghz is a bit overkill unless your doing heavy video editing. They should offer a version of it that has a 2.0ghz processor and a X1600 256mb card in the 15" model + the 17" model, so we could all save money. Also, they should upgrade the resolution on the 15" and 17" to 1920x1080 for photo editors so they have more space.

However, all in all, if you have the money, the Macbook pro is awesome.
