I downloaded Candybar3 last night and am hooning around making custom icons (e.g. using a red letterbox for Mail).
What is the best image size to work with? Some of my icons turn out teeny tiny, some are oversized and it seems a bit random. Anyone know if there is a 'standard' size for a MBP 15" res? Also I am using .png file format for dumping into candybar, should I be using something else?
Many thanks, K.

Ok I can answer my own question now. Has to be PNG, transparency doesn't work in jpeg. An so long as it's big enough it's fine...

with Candybar you can just use PNG files for the icons, no need to use an icon builder or create icns files.
Thanks for the info tho.
I have now totally pimped my dock -
the max size you really need for an icon is 512x512, is that is the largest icon size possible in Leopard, which is really quite large.
image size for custom icons?
