I was worried that us new owners of the SR MBP would have to pay a premium for the new ilife that just came out. I just called the local apple store and they said it will be $9.99.... with no rush he says. Bring your receipt with the date anytime to get it that price. Its not just a promo...

Is this for ALL SR MBPs, or just ones ordered on/after August 7?

I told him that I ordered it a week ago, so he told me that it would be $10... as far as it being preloaded.. I assume that since the new iMacs are being loaded with iLife... then I am going to have to say that all new MBP's ordered after August 7th will have it preloaded, but that is just an assumption, no fact backing that up...

Interestingly enough, after talking with someone who called in who had ordered the night of the 6th, it seems that (at least HE said) since his MBP hadn't shipped yet, it would be getting the new iLife. Hopefully that customer service rep was right...

I don't think so. I think its only Macs purchased from today, because just in case that person, for example, had their MBP shipped ultra early, then he might've gotten iLife '08 before Apple announced it, and got the news out, and Apple wouldn't take that chance.

Personally, I think Apple should just give a free upgrade to iLife '08 for anyone who bought a Mac in August (considering its one week into August). It wouldn't cause them to lose much money anyways.

Wait wait, people who order from today onwards have to pay $10 for the upgrade? I thought it would be people who ordered before the new version came out.

So does this, in fact, mean that any Macbook Pro order on or after 8/7/07 will have the iLife '08?

What other new updates does this mean? iPhoto? iWork?

    Are these full versions?

Yes, any new MacBook Pro bought from now on should have iLife '08. If not complain to the employees at the Apple Store :D. Since there's so many orders for MacBook Pros right now, its safe to order now, and I'd say by the time you get your MBP it'll have iLife '08 for sure.

Apple doesn't sell upgrade versions of anything. Their OS and software suites are all full versions.

All the applications in iLife have been updated in a way or another.

Also yes new iWork was announced. More Keynote and Pages features and addition of spreadsheet app, Numbers.

Does this mean that iWork will be included on Macbook Pros?
Or is that a seperate buy?

    I'm confused...

Pretty sure it's still just an optional buy when you order an MBP (or any Mac I think). That's how it was before at least - and I don't think they decided to bundle it with the computer itself yet.

A 30-day trial of iWork '08 will be included in all new MacBook Pros. You'll have to purchase it if you want to use it after that. $79 US, cheaper for Students.

Nah, iLife08 will come preinstalled on all Macs starting yesterday - Mac mini, iMac, Mac Pro, Macbook & Macbook Pro. I guess all systems which ship from apple today should have them preinstalled.

I think you'd have to look at the new features at http://www.apple.com/ilife and decide for yourself if it was worth it or not.

I think there have been some genuinely nice improvements to each of the ilife apps, but how and if you use them currently will really answer that question of whether it's worth buying iLife 08.

Problem is that I have not even had time to test all the featuers of the old ilife (ilife '06 or what is it called?)
