    Hi,
Is there a reason why my ibook G4's wireless signal is EXTREMELY weaker than my sony laptop? We have a new wireless network in our apartment and for the ibook to pick up any signal i have to be literally a couple of feet away from the router. In my room (router is outside the room) my sony fe has full signal and my ibook doesnt pick up even the network name. I have done all the mac software updates. I dont know if this will help or not but the wireless card firmware version is 405.1 (3.90.34.0.p18).
Thanks in advance for any help...

There are several things that could cause weak signal. Most likely is that the iBook is more sensitive to interference than the Sony is. You could try changing the channel on your router as well. Different wireless cards respond differently to things like interference.

actually i fixed the problem, the airport card wasn't plugged int to the little cable all the way. i read about this problem in another forum, to be correctly plugged in it you must hear 2 clicks, and i just had it 1 click in....no i have perfect signal!....thanks anyways!
