Back in november my ibooks keyboard started turning number lock on/off randomly while typing then a few weeks later the touchpad stopped working. The click works fine but the touchpad won't track. Would buying a new top frame with touchpad and a new keyboard fix these problems or is it something deeper?

i would maybe try just replacing the keyboard first, that is the easiest to change, and that could be an indicator if it was just parts problem, or a logic board problem.

Well this is odd. I popped my keyboard off and it wasn't down very tight. Cleaned the underside of the keyboard and tightened it down all the way and it's fine now. The trackpad worked for a bit but then it died again. How hard is it to replace the upper casing?

maybe the trackpad connector is loose as well? I think the connector for it is right next to the keyboard connector as well.

its **** hard to replace the upper case without breaking something inside. Let alone get it off (many small screws and tight pieces). I tried to upgrade the HD in my ibook, ended up snapping the power button connector off the logic board, luckily i got it fixed under warranty.
