Wow, that really sucks. I'm completely ignorant on this topic but I'd like to think Apple has a solution for this issue. Did you log into you iTunes account first?

When I Delete (Uninstall) iTunes my content does not get deleted (unless you deleted the Library :( ). Check for your old iTunes directory - if you originally customized the location it may be different upon reinstall, thus not recognized.

Also, Search you computer for the missing file, it may be there. And definitely do NOT purchase the same thing twice - someone will be able to help you.

there has got to be a log on the apple server of what you have purchased on your account.

    log into your account.
    go to the itunes store.
find the tv show you purchased.
hopefully it will say "download" and not buy for 2.99

I tried that because thats how Xbox Live is. You buy something, delete it, and go to the Marketplace and redownload it. Best online marketplace ever invented.

It just says buy for $1.99. But if I go to Purchase History its there. Even the date is there. 3/30/07

have you checked your libraries and what not, unless you deleted it yourself, it should still be on the computer.

and this is in no way Apple's fault, it is yours entirely, but I am sure if you contact Apple you will be fine.

it specifically says each time you buys something to make sure and have some form of backup as you are buying valuable items.

i'm sure they can look at your purchase history.

Click on check for purchases under the store tab. It will tell you that all purchases can only be downloaded once and that if you wish to transfer them you should burn them onto a CD or DVD.

When you purchase something on iTunes, it is your responsibility to back it up. If you delete it you are out of luck. It is like buying a DVD or CD, lose it and you're done. There is recourse, Apple will allow a one time (once a year I believe) download of everything you have purchased in the past. But backup, it's your responsibility, not Apple's. They clearly state that every few purchases.

And as for check for previous purchases, you were likely using the feature to upgrade your music to a non-DRM form.

Im not going to call Apple and complain over a $1.99 TV episode. I will just buy it again if i want to watch it. I was just wondering where it went. No big deal.

Any idea why they don't actually use your account to see what you've already bought or not? More like Steam, where your bought games always are aviable for download, and tracked through your account.

Would be a lot more user friendly, but then again appearantly "user friendly" isn't exactly the first thing you associate with the music and movie industry...

I am sure there are several reasons. One I would assume there agreements with the labels and studios prevent it. Also, I am sure if it were wide open, there would be cost of bandwidth concerns. Remember, Apple makes next to nothing on the sale of tracks on iTunes, so any extra cost will cut significantly into their bottom line.

Because record companies are incredibly decadent and behind the technology loop and think they can make more money by burying their heads in the sand and pretending DRM and stricter controls over media over the internet works...oh wait... :p

From one (their) point of view though, think of it this way: if you buy a CD and then drop/burn/destroy/lose it, you can't go to the store and say, "My dog ate my CD, can I please have a replacement?"

Of course, this analogy fails horribly when you consider that if your stereo blows up, nothing should happen to your CD, but if your computer blows up, your ENTIRE CD collection is gone....
